-----------------------------------------------------------------

Once again I found little fodder for my blog post...it's smoking hot right now and I'm not motivated to go out and sweat.  Heat index is 104 -109 range.  And I have a new head cold who knows maybe I do have Covid again!  Our state jumped back up to 17.4% positive rate of those tested...and hospitalizations have risen by 400%.

I took a walk around Goodale lake last week and so I will share some of what I saw there...

Had a Great Blue Heron poking around I snuck up on him  he thought he heard something....Hello there!  We actually had bad air quality as the westerly winds had brought us some smoke for the fires out west...could barely make out this Great Egret over in the reeds...not far from the heron

Can't swim in this lake it has gators...

There was quite a few dragonflies out but I got no stills of them I did a snippet of video...

Life by the lake is moving slowly except for those guys.

So still all you can hear are the cicadas singing...

The Cyprus tree reminds me of an Elephant Foot with some extra toes..

And more swift movement in the water...

Back at home this bug has less toes,

I guess he can get by with 5 legs....I tried to find  out what this is, and the closest thing I found was a Conifer Seed Bug,

So now there's 3 very small and fragile baby birds in the hanging plant...hope the parents are ready for this!

I think some of that Grey hair in there is mine...

In the dearly departed dogwood, the hummers rest

...lastly the Green Anole hunting inside the screen porch..

Very slow and sultry week for me...

There was a mountain so I climbed it,
A river and I swam it,
A desert and I crossed it,
A cliff and I scaled it,
A rock and I  tossed it,
A seed and I planted it,
A falling star and I witnessed it,
A thought and I shared it.

PEACE
Every day is a new Adventure.

  2. That is hot Sondra, I wouldn't like that heat. This time is year is generally quite her too on the bird front as the migrants are leaving and our residents are hiding away due to the moult.
I googled the bug and it does look like the Conifer Seed Bug we have smaller green varieties of the same family. A good picture of it though, do you still use the Lumix camera. All the best.

    1. Hi Dave, I am still using the Lumix camera it's just so much easier I kept the other one for when this one dies... this heat spell won't last long but once it's above 90 forget it, Glad you feeling well! Have a good week.

  3. Hello,
Sounds very hot there, I would not want to go out walking in that heat. Great sightings of the heron and egret. I like the video of the dragonflies. The baby birds and the hummer are so cute. Take care and stay cool. Have a great day and a happy weekend!

  4. You did get some great photos at least. Yes I know how those temps feel. We are getting some great monsoons so temps are lower but humidity is high, just can't win sometimes. Stay home and stay cool!

  6. I am always glad you share your thoughts! And pictures. Is that an original poem at the end? Thank you -- it was a special morning smile. Hot and smoky here too right now -- we have several small lightning-caused fires here in our county as of this past weekend (up in the mountains east of us). Daughter and sil have cold-like symptoms right now and I am worried that they may have the new covid, even though they are vaccinated.

  7. Oof, hope it cools off for you and that you're feeling better. Being sick when it's hot is no fun. I had a similar bug in my yard years ago that I think was also a conifer seed bug- fun to see.

  8. I did enjoy seeing your photographs but it certainly does sound too hot where you are, definitely time to take things easier, especially as you are not feeling too good.

    Feel better soon.
