We Have Arrived!

After 2 days visiting my Uncle in Indiana,
we zipped west  into Illinois,  Iowa and Nebraska..
We stopped in Kearney Nebraska for one night and there is this archway there it stretches over I-80 on each end is this really amazing sculpture.

My photo was lost this is from Google Maps

AND.....We had to pull over to photograph this!

I had to wonder if it leaks?

We stopped at the Rowe Audubon Sanctuary, saw a few nice birds like the Savannah Sparrow, the Red Headed Woodpecker, and the Ring Necked Pheasant...an immature male...

Then we ZOOMED to Colorado via 1-76 to I-70W and arrived to my sis's home about 7:30 pm  she moved 3 yrs ago I have never been here she used to live in Basalt CO, she lived in Basalt for 28 years and during those years I did learn my way around that area so this is all new territory for us to explore!! For 1 day we did nothing...today we went to the Forest service office and I got my Senior Pass!!

YIPPIE!! and my sister got hers too cause she didn't have one either!!

We took a short walk/hike today in an area called Slaughter Gulch on BLM land, that has some private land around it, not far from my sis's house we had rain overnight and it was still cloudy today & a little muddy but a nice hike!

Saw this cool Pinyon Pine on the hill..

Just outside the public land boundary this tidy horse farm...

And frolicking around in one of the turn out pens was these 2 totally CUTE babies!!

SO far fun is being  had by ALL including the dogs.
Love the coloration on the foal on the right his head and neck are dark and  his body a chestnut color...is it not the most adorable critter you've ever saw??
We have been invited to a garden party on Thursday so looking forward to that!!

PEACE

  3. I don't remember the metal sculpture on the arch in Nebraska. I wonder if they're new. Now I'm going to have to find my pictures.
