Cheering up With Simple Green!

Spent a fair amount of time tending my flower pots this week and re-listing Ebay items that ran out last week, in the afternoons when it heats up...Ebay sent me free listings until the
20th of August!  I have increased my inventory and continue to move my Vintage items to Etsy! Its so much easier there to list, now if I can get enough to draw in a sale--Ebay is  making it so hard to be a seller, they think they are our bosses! HA got news for them, we can end our listings with one click of the mouse! No listings No fees! They want us to offer 90 day return for holidays...Holy Cow, I think they are trying to push out the "used" item dealers such as myself.

Anyways I got some work done on that over the past couple days! Check out the new link to my Etsy store on the sidebar.  I want to eventually have some hand made items!  I took some photos of the annual pots I also played with  fancy framing it felt good to be creative!---I've been trying to relax more and get involved in doing anything to keep my mind busy!  We sort of stayed with a white, green, and maroon, theme this yr. Mom and I worked on these pots in the spring, and now we are enjoying them as well as the butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds. Mostly its impatiens, caladiums, periwinkles,  and some cool greens of various kinds-we don't have a green thumb per-se, but we always try to have flowers every summer   I purchased one flat with 6 impatiens, one flat with 6 periwinkles and a few blue petunias...we rooted or seeded the rest, there is one Dahlia in there too it bloomed already a deep purple.

I usually fill my deck up with plants! Having basal right by the door is good thing I just reach out and get a leaf or two when I need it..

Like I've shared before I normally root sweet potato vine year to yr so these are a couple of yrs  old now...added marigold, coleus I grow these from seed, and some wandering jew--I keep this alive year to year. We love our Hostas too..

These impatient like the shade, take quite a lot of water too...but they keep right on flowering! AND *knock* on good wood--the squirrels don't bother 'em! these photos were lined up wonderful in my draft screen but when I post they are scattered all over the place!! I thought the smaller size would work better but its hard to make them stay put!!

And I've really enjoyed my small water garden this yr! That's it up behind the gazing ball..AND here it is centered in a larger size so you can see all the little plants up close! Some frogs have enjoyed hanging out there too this summer...

We have tadpoles in our water barrels! Hope they hatch out soon, we need to use the water, we like to water the plants with rainwater, they do so much better on that!! Plants are one of the best parts of summer...the flowers  and the fresh veggies too!

Today we peeled and sliced up fresh SC peaches to freeze!! We put them on a cookie sheet and freeze; then put the frozen slices in zip-lock bags so it wont stick together this way we can open the bag and get out whatever we want and not have to thaw the whole bag!

The Front Line

On the Home Front:
Well I got 6 and a 1/2 pints of Jam from my berries! Its yummy too..and some plums are on the
way to ripe maybe by the 4th I will be plum picking!  We have no travel plans for the 4th is not a good time to travel anyway...way to many drunks celebrators on the road! On the Blog Front: During the time my blog roll was not working I did some clean up! A lot of people had just given up their blog and hadn't updated in a long time so I deleted those.
I thought Blogger would go to the Dead Zone! Glad it didn't....Yet!
BUT it could happen. Do you get annoyed with those on your blog roll who you visit and comment regularly and they never reciprocate? I have run into that and after a good- hearted try I just stop visiting and eventually delete that blog from my roll, this way I can better manage my online time and my blog call roll fits neatly on one page!

On the Nature Front: A Damsel fly on a log by some red algae?

And check out this shield Bug I saw at home..

A couple frogs found their way into our water collection barrels and now we have tadpoles in both of the short barrels! I moved a few of them to my water garden!!

They sing loud at night!! Almost too loud wont be long till they will be looking for new digs I imagine!

On the Hobby Front:
Been trying to figure out how to get macro shots  with this Panasonic camera! I have found out a few things it does not have long range zoom in the A-S-P settings..only Auto! It has 2 auto settings so it serves the need but I do enjoy some macro now and then...my first couple of attempts, these are not extreme macros which I want to try at some point..I do need to get the tripod out its just awkward to handle.

And here are the plums I'm waiting on...they are nearly ready.  Once they turn more orange in color they will be sweet..If I pick too early they will be too tart.

On the Bird Front:
Two things! First Wood Thrushes--oh the beautiful song they sing...it lures me into the woods in my bare feet trying to snap a photo of them...for some reason they are up high in the trees I don't know maybe training young, maybe eating the wild cherry's not suitable for human consumption but just right for birds! Whilst out looking for them I found this
Just to show that birds work well together! I heard the ruckus and went to investigate! Its a little shaky in the beginning, ok well its shaky throughout but you will see why..

AND yes I did get him down...

Whats New Around the Homestead

Yesterday was Friday 13th? Glad I didnt know that all day, I thought it was just any ole Friday...I am safely at home tucked into my chair and chilaxing after a hard week....and here it is already the weekend...

Last weekend on Saturday I worked on a project that I had been wanting to get done for a while.  Making some changes in the yard and the area where I used to keep a larger pool with fountain I decided to create a Water Garden, It needs more work and I may re-do it because Ive since learned its better to put the plants in submerged pots....Instead of how I did it, but putting the soil directly in the bottom of the pool...but here it is,

Sorry it's blurry, LOOK who found the water...a Yellow Billed Cuckoo,, the pool needs more plants and the squirrels have eaten the ones I put in to start with.... NO surprise there...

Anyways I wanted to add another water feature to the yard so I bought this pot....already had the pump and the bamboo, I have several laying around...I WANT more, I love bamboo..
SO I cut the bamboo into a couple of pieces, ran the tubing inside and then to the pump and filled the pot with pebbles and water...and added a whimsical dragon fly and WA-LA!!

AND a different angle....

IT makes a JOLLY sound in the yard..

Other things happening in the yard are some seeds sprouting

and some cheerful color is here and there on the ground...

Hope your trough if FULL...have a great weekend!!

(pssstttt......IM waiting to hearback  from the bank to see if they're gonna loan me the money to buy our family homestead that has been in the family 40 yrs  from my soon to be X, to keep it from being sold out from under us....so PLEASE if you have any pull with the Gods, or the Universe....send some good thoughts my way----all the little critters here in DixxeLand appreciate it!)
