Could this be the Last...

Full Moon to fall on Christmas in my lifetime?
Christmas day I had a good get together with family I cooked for 2 days to prepare dinner for 7...glad it was successful now happy its over and done!  Soon as it was dark I headed out to do something I love doing alone...

60 second exposure

with my camera to see and record the Rare Christmas Full Moon!  What I read is: this is the first moon to fall on Christmas day since the new 25,000 year cosmic cycle that began in 2012...remember the Mayan calendar thing? So there will be other magnificent celestial events occurring some we have no recorded history of!! Gosh makes me want to live forever...I really hate to miss the most awesome things that are coming!!

more clouds moving over the moon

It is a 19 year cycle...only we have not had one to actually fall on Christmas day since 1979 due to leap year moving the date around...We had some heavy cloud cover but then the sky brightened and I was so GLAD!

I took a few long exposures of the moving clouds while I waited it was an amazing night.  The stars were quite bright in the clearing patches..

We won't see another full moon fall on Christmas day until the year 2034...

Some of us will be around to see it some of us won't If I'm still here I will be 81 my Mom is 91 so it is possible...

But when you're 91 you are not too keen on going out to stand in the middle of the road at night...;O/ to shoot the moon...

I want to be one of the ones who does...

A Day Ago 4-14-14...

Can you get over this cold blast on the last day we should be having frost in my area we are under a frost freeze warning! I spent the last half hr trying to cover stuff up piling leaves over what I could...
And today the first female hummer arrived the males are here almost 2 weeks already! Saw one male doing the "I may get lucky dance"...pretty cool the female was not impressed she was just sitting on the perch sipping that sugary awesome stuff we make for them.

this is an example of a photo I should have cropped before showing but ....didnt!

There is a baby squirrel in my tool shed... I've been tossing him some grapes he loves those, NO I don't normally feed squirrels, but I think I may have accidentally relocated his mother...I don't think he is still of nursing age, but he depends on her to bring him food so I'm bringing him food..this is not him this is the one in the yard whose mother brought him out to teach him the ropes..I'll try to get a photo of the orphan when the weather gets better!
(rain today cold front coming in)

...nap time- if only they could stay this cute eh?

The Dogwoods are in bloom...I hope this cold blast doesn't kill the blossoms...it may

and the wisteria is blooming too....We dont let ours get out of  hand, so we have only a few blooms...the bees love it!

The girls are happy to be out wandering around.

Annie

and Flossie...

I whacked off some of her hair...I know its awful....

This is all I could get of the moon, the clouds moved in so fast...

NOW I took that photo with the Canon I recently purchased...I took the one below with my Kodak a year ago...I like it much better!!! Dang wish it was still working.  The Canon is too heavy and awkard for me to focus with my hands and wrists the way they are now...so...

... I listed it and it has sold---I will buy myself another bridge camera that is light weight, easy to use and can take the beating I give my equipment! I'll keep ya posted on that.

Blue Moon-New Year-

Blue Moon-, originally uploaded by dixxebell.

The last full moon of 2009 is almost at its peak (95% full)..and Its a Blue Moon!! Blue Moons are not really blue it simply means we had 2 full moons in one month!! The next one will come in 2012!
Its COLD outside here tonight---by our SC standards, found that out when I headed outside with my camera to shoot the moon!

My PC has a virus so....I dont know how much longer I'll be enjoying the luxury of its company--I will probably do a System Recovery soon----I cant do a system restore the virus has disabled that and I cant run Microsoft Malicious Software Removal tool...or windows Defender bothhave been disabled by the Nasty Varmit... I tired to do an online virus scan and removal and that didnt work either!! Maybe a new PC is in my future? Things such as that do happen--- Once In A Blue Moon...lol

Happy New Year to all of you!!!
