I don't have much this week as it turned really cold!
I did finish getting my belonging back in the van...I had the brakes and bearings done but I still hear the sound...so looks like more repairs are in my future...
I did not get out much for birding or hiking, I stopped at the park nearby to do a sweep of the lake for ducks...saw none tho...
No one was around, this photo doesn't tell you just how cold it was that's why I was the only one there...several Golden Crowned Kinglets greeted me.
As well as some Chipping Sparrows...a flock of about 50 scattered as I drove by....this is the time of year we have more sparrows around...
I always thought this was a result of pollution..,but it's actually the surface of the water has a lot of air,
I am now already busy on another project..it involves this large tube..
That's all I have this week, we had some rain, then the cold and I spent one entire day dealing with the garage visit, and then another one getting my wood box replenished and another running errands, and before I knew what was happening an entire week was over.
PEACE
Every day is a new Adventure.
Hello,
ReplyDeleteYour van is looking good. I am not seeing a lot of anything here, except for my usual yard birds. Our lake was empty, not one duck here. Where are they? I always love the Bluebirds, they are sweet. The Chipping Sparrows must all be in your area, they will be back in the spring. I guess we will see what the project with the tube will be? Take care, enjoy your weekend!
HI Eileen...the birds are scarce around here but the Chippies love these open fields this time of year. Most of the ducks being reported in my state I noticed on ebird are near coastal regions...and some at water treatment ponds. I don't know is it industry pollution killing the food supply in our lakes or what? That is why this foam bothered me so I looked it up thinking it was phosphates, but that is normally green.
DeleteAll the flooding this year did introduce a lot of pollutants into rivers, and lakes...Big Ag run off, and just any container that got turned over in someone's garage.
Love the fire and your bowl of soup it makes for a very cozy feel. It is quite cold here as well. We even hit about a 29 for and overnight low yestersay and this morning it was 30.
ReplyDeleteI love the van set up. It really looks good and so roomy. The rug is sweet.
hi Jo, thanks...that soup was good but I burned my mouth on it ouch. It's hard to resist gobbling it down. Our weather continues to be a roller coaster of rain, then cold..we had a 22 and some days the high never got out of the 40's. I hope if the stars line up just right in the new year to be doing some overnight trips at least.
DeleteThat bowl of soup looks delicious.
ReplyDeletePerfect for cooler days.
My good wishes.
All the best Jan
Hi Jan, yes it def hit the spot, my first homemade soup this fall.
DeleteThe van looks great, very cosy! The temperatures have dropped a lot here this past week, we even had a tiny bit of snow but it hasn't put off the garden birds. I'm interested to see what you'll be doing with the tube!!
ReplyDeleteHi Pam.. Glad your birds visits are staying strong...I had a large flock of Common Grackle visit the yard yesterday they make a huge ruckus and it so delightful to see them. Hopefully my next post will reveal the new project.
DeleteThe van is looking good. That's a shame you still have the noise after having the bearings done, but as the bearings needed doing thats one thing you can disregard. Sometimes its just a process of elimination. We've had a cold spell and the feeders are being well used, its amazing how much they get through. That tube sounds intriguing.
ReplyDeleteThank you Dave,,,Im revealing the tube in a few minutes I didn't get my Friday Blog finished but plan to do it this morning..
DeleteIt’s good to know those white bubbly things on the water are surface air, not pollution . Reminds me of when I thought those white round spots on cypress trunks were vandalism and they turned out to be lichen, a really healthy sign. Sometimes you learn some good news. You saw a lot of nice birds on a quiet week.
