Step ONE!

The work has begun for real, actually started last week while I had some time off at New Yrs...
Im referring to the BIG clean out of the house that I got in the divorce settlement...
Although the house was being lived in for 13 yrs he had closed off the rooms he no longer used and he was supposed to take stuff with him, it appears he piled it up to take but changed his mind,
The house was NOT being taken care of or maintained.  Basically all the bedrooms had been closed off  and were being used as junk storage! I mean what do you do when you move out of the college dorm? Dump your junk in the parents old bedroom right?

There will be more on this mess LATER!!
actually all 3 of the bedrooms were in the same kind of mess..

THIS is the second load of unwanted stuff that is ready to haul to the dump! AND trust me there will be MORE lots MORE...I want to go back to the bare necessities in this house, bed, nightstand, dresser, and a rug in each room..... And in the background is the old shed and potting shed that will be torn down EVENTUALLY!

The old Shed.  My X and I built this shed ourselves way back in 1977....so its amazing that its still standing!

The main living area is not  as bad, but a LOT of stuff in closets, drawers, etc. we must have loved to watch videos I took 6 large garbage bags full out of various cabinets, drawers, shelves, and every nook n crannie? Now-a-days my private collection of Videos is about 12, and DVD's about 20.  Trust me, I never liked clutter and kept this house spic n span, but for the past 13 yrs it has not been kept tidy...BUT Thats all gonna change for the better!

The old sectional couch is a motion sofa it has recliners on each end, and I recall its very comfy, it needs a good cleaning and the center cushion may need to be replaced...So I will take care of that..

This house was moved to this location 38 yrs ago....WE appreciated the view of our horses so much we had them locate the house with the FRONT facing the pasture and the BACK is facing the road...So the screen porch which is in back is really the front...does that make sense?  So you enter the house via the screen porch...it needs a lot of TLC even a squirrel has found a way to get into the porch attic! I found his little get away...

I've started a pile of what will go to the flea market with me one Saturday in the Future...even if I get a $1 per item...I will be happy....and there will be more added to this pile!

Don't you wish you were here to help me, boy we could have some fun, break for a nice sandwich and a beer and then back to work!!  I enjoy doing physical work, it makes me feel good!

A
Footnote:
ON a very sad note:
I worked only 8 hrs this week...my boss's grand daughter, 4 months old and who was cherished by her family, died suddenly on Thursday morning.  It was quite a shock to us all, we loved hearing about the baby and seeing her photos on facebook and hearing about her life via my boss...So my prayers go out to my boss's daughter & her entire family at this time, the funeral is tomorrow...I wont be attending as they live in another town from me, but my thoughts will be on them tomorrow as they go through this very hard time.

PEACE

  1. Could I borrow you to clear out my house?
I've got SO much junk and clutter here. Amazing what can accumulate over a few years lol

Did I read that right; you moved your house to that location 38 years ago?

Love that little white headed Chipping Sparrow. We get the occasional bird with similar feather patterns here. They always look so special.

And very, very sad news about your boss's grand daughter. 4 months old; poor little thing.

    1. YES Keith, this old house was set to be torn down,,,back in 1977 it was originally located in Downtown Camden and we think it was built in the late 40's or early 50's. SO we bought the house when the land was sold to build a WENDY's Restaurant.. and we had it moved by a house moving company 15 miles to the current location. We added the screen porch and sunroom after it was moved here.

  2. Aww very sad...

I would gladly crack a beer and help you out! I will bet that sink looks great when you are through with it. Five bucks is a dang good deal too. My bathroom is a mess and the room I am most scared to fix up. Love your screened porch, that must be nice in the warm weather... Good luck with all your hauling, can't wait to see how it looks when you've got it all de-junked!

  6. A mess..well yes. But the potential! The rooms are a generous size, lots of architectural interest. Love the covered porch..such a perfect place to sit with coffee in the morning, or watch a sunset. Actually I do wish I was there - tearing into this kind of project is FUN. Looking forward to more on the project.

  7. Sondra, even your writing radiates all the energy and activity, I'd love to join you! :) Physical work is good, as long as it is manageable.

I can't imagine how a house can be moved, I'm not used to seeing such a type of houses here. But it looks nice from both outside and inside. Comfortable, isn't it?

The death of the girl must have been devastating to the family, it's so sad.

  8. Looks like you have your work cut out for you. Love the idea of that screened in porch. My grandparents used to have a screened in porch and I got to sleep out there. So fresh yet "safe" (from bears etc) ... or at least I thought so.

Sad about the wee one. So hard on the parents. I had a friend lose a child at about 4 months .... I still think about him. My Mom and I got to go in and visit him the day before they pulled the plug. Poor wee tyke. A very difficult journey to navigate through ... my heart goes out to this couple.

    1. I think all the screen will have to be replaced there seems to be a rip here and a tear there plenty big for a hungry mosquito to get in!

  9. Oh you have just wayyyy too much fun ahead of you there girl! Yeah, I wish I were there to help you (you really don't believe that one do you?) What a job. We used to go to the reclamation store in Oregon when we were remodeling and building... those places are great deals and the sink is definitely saveable with some elbow grease and that's cheap (we never counted what our hours were worth).

So sorry to hear about your bosses grand baby..the saddest thing ever.

  10. If you look past all the STUFF it looks like a really cute house. I can't believe you're throwing away the giant pumpkin!

So tragic about your boss's granddaughter. I can't imagine losing a baby.

  11. I think I'm going to enjoy watching how your improvements develop Sondra. Clutter is sadly something that afflicts us all and there's nothing like a good clear out. My condolences to your boss and family.

  12. Oh my! Could you send me just a little of all that energy I feel jumping off the page Sondra? There is so much needs doing here and I'm so bad at motivating myself.....the longer it goes on the more difficult it is to get on with it! I think your plans will achieve some great results eventually.

I hope you had a very happy Christmas (my apologies for not popping over with Christmas greetings!) and that 2013 will be a much better year for you.

I was so very sorry to read your desperately sad footnote....I do hope the family will find the strength to cope and carry on eventually....
