I havent taken a photo of anything lately...so here are some that I didnt post from my trip last week...
I almost gave up on finding a spot at Edisto Beach State Park for camping and to finally see the Painted Bunting during the second week of July window!! I do have ONE little problem, or maybe its 2 little problems....
Annie and Flossie,
they have to go with me, cause I Have NO ONE to keep them and I WOULD NEVER put them in a kennel...I could probably get someone to come in to feed them but wth Ill enjoy having them with me....so they will come with----
the park building where the buntings are greedily eating at seed feeders provided by the staff is in the courtyard of the Nature Center..and NO PETS allowed In the Nature Center ...its almost like the world is set up for couples and families and we singles (with pets) have to figure out a way around all that....SO we shall see how Imanage to work it
IF I tie them out front Flossie ( on the left) will go bananas she growls and snarls at all strangers...lol . I could leave them in the van for a while, motor running with AC on maybe 15 mins....because she barks the entire time I leave her in the van,
BUT luckily Finally 2 days opened up so I booked it I plan to get in some beach time too...hope the girlz are allowed on the beach. Got my chair, beachy umbrella, and flip flops ready!!! Guess I can hang up my hikers for a while, since the triple digit days are upon us!
BUT anyways thats still a couple weeks away, July 4th is next week and its the girlz 5th birthday!! It will be nice to have a middle of the week day off..
... weather is getting hot this weekend as we are told the stiffling heat of the southwest is headed our way..it will be way too hot to do anything but maybe swim.
I gotta get that kayak!! Im not content to sit on the shore anymore!!
NO I dont have webbed feet...
I cant wait, to see that bunting!!
PEACE
Flossie growls and snarls at strangers?!? I can't believe it. She looks like such an angel. Have fun at the beach.
ReplyDeleteYep she endures pats on the head from children but reluctantly...she rolls her eyes and looks at me as if to say "What are you gonna do about this?" lol SHE is harmless but she SOUNDS vicious!
DeleteAbout the problem with the dog barking in your vehicle when you leave it: anti-bark (electric shock) collars really DO work. I got one for one of my dogs. She was cured the second time she was zapped.
ReplyDeleteAbout the no-dog policy in nature centers or beaches: there might be good reasons for that sometimes, but it is only an ostensible reason. The real reason is that metropolitan Greens need to sanctify their shrines and "cathedrals of nature" by banning something, that is, by declaring something SINFUL. The more things that have been declared sinful, the more Holy their shrine is, and the better people they are in their own eyes.
Think of the traditional rule about taking off your hat when entering a church.
I am tempted to try that collar...because if she is gonna be tagging along with me (and she is) she had to get her friendly face on!!
DeleteI hear ya on the dog problem! I was damn lucky that the state park where I saw Painted Buntings in TX allowed dogs on the trails and in the bird blinds (or at least there were no signs saying otherwise!). Best of luck with that, sounds like the van running with the A/C on is your best bet. Have fun!!!
ReplyDeleteI need to crate train them...then they could sit by a fan and a pan of cool water while I go see to the nature center!
DeleteGood luck with the bunting sighting! And stay cool. Colorado was H O T! (In real life we just got back to Oregon and are grateful for the cool and even for the rain.) I'll be back to catch up soon -- roadtrips always put me behind on blog reading.
ReplyDeleteI think Oregon sounds pretty good about now!!
DeleteIt sure is smoking hot in the SE!
ReplyDeletePainted Buntings are super pretty birds. Hope you get them to pose for you.
I only have inside cats so I know nothing about dogs.
Stay cool Sondra!
Good luck on the Bunting sighting. They are beautiful birds, I got to see one here in my own state of Maryland once. It was cool. It has been really hot and humid lately. Hubby and I always dog sit for our friends, too bad you are close to me. I would watch your puppy dogs. Have a great time, I enjoyed your photos.
ReplyDeleteI know I'm always saying it but your girls are just so gorgeous!!! So many places don't welcome dogs anymore, such a shame. I don't like the sound of those electric shock collars at all and of course leaving dogs in cars in the heat even with windows open can be so dangerous, it's very difficult!!! Like you, I could never leave my dog in kennels either. Maybe a solution would be to have someone they know doggy sit them?
