I almost wrote Got Nothing as the title, cause I have sooo little to share, we had a very cloudy icky week for the most part
But the sun came out one day in time for me to get out and see what may shape up into a post...so here goes!
But the sun came out one day in time for me to get out and see what may shape up into a post...so here goes!
I went to Lake Bee, first I have to pass by many cotton fields..
Once there, I am wondering when they will refill the lake....
It's pretty even tho, I like the plants, the drift wood and the Killdeer that enjoy poking around in the mud...
It's a pretty view from this high point that I visit when the gates are open to go up and it was on that day! It was a favorite place to Mom when we used to go here.
Wildflowers still in bloom attract butterflies
And this time of year is Grasshopper season..
After driving down off the hill I went down to Oxpen Lakes to sit in the shade and have a cool drink...haven't seen that beaver that was here once since that day!
Soon I heard a taping off to the left in the trees...and followed the sound, found this Brown Headed Nuthatch digging a little hole in the tree to get an insect..
This cone looked perfect to me...
Once upon a time Mom and I did some rock painting, and so I was thinking I would like to paint a rock and take it up to Mary's Hill and leave it in honor of Mom's love for this hill...So I want to do that soon...Last week was 2 years without her.
PEACE
Every day is a new Adventure.
Hello Sondra,
ReplyDeleteI love the cute Killdeer. Seeing a Brown-headed Nuthatch would make me happy, I have to travel south to see them. The scenery and sky look pretty. A painted rock for your Mom is a lovely idea. Take care, have a happy day and a great weekend!
HI Eileen, I appreciate your comment. I am lucky to have BH Nuthatch year round in this area, they are fun to watch. Have a great weekend,,I will be sure to share it when I get that rock ready to place.
DeleteRock painting is popular here too, and during lockdown the local children painted stones in praise of the health service and lined them up on a nearby wall, a pebble stone snake. Also they have this game linked to a Face Book page whereby a painted stone is left for someone to discover from the clues on FB. The discoverer then hides it again and puts a clue on FB.
ReplyDeleteThere are still lots of wild flowers around and here its been mild weather. Lots of fungi appearing too.
All the best.
HI Dave, that's a good idea to have a group page to create interest and participation in the rock painting. It's been very mild here so far, and we have our first real cold snap coming next week Im looking forward to that. Hope your weekend is a good one.
DeleteYou sure did get lots of beautiful pictures of the fall colors. And the 2 birds are a couple I love also. Little nut hatchers are so cute seems they spend half there time up side down. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Jo I was glad to get a non cloudy day to go exploring, the nuthatches are fun to watch and they seem to tolerate people very well Im looking forward to the red breasted nuthatch returning this winter. Have a great week.
DeleteWow! Two years. This pandemic has skewed my sense of time so much. I’m so glad you are getting out! Me, not so much. But, I’m sewing away, looking out over the little harbor, and thankful for being back in NS, out of red hot US.
ReplyDeleteHEY Karen!! Im so happy for you that you were able to get out of the USA, wish I could follow you. Glad you're back to sewing hope you get your blog dusted off...Have a great week.
DeleteI think that'a really good idea to the painted rock, it's such a lovely place no wonder it was a favourite.
ReplyDeletehi Pam I found the rock I plan to use...now I gotta come up with an idea! TC
DeleteI did enjoy your post and photographs.
ReplyDeleteI think a painted rock for your Mom is a lovely idea.
I hope you've had a good week, my good wishes for the coming weekend.
All the best Jan
HI Jan, I hope to begin painting the rock Im trying out a couple ideas on paper first...my sisters came up with the idea to offer a scholarship to a high school student in our town in my mom's memory...and the criteria is the student must have an interest in nature and the environment, and it be used to a 2 or 4 yr college. So it's time for us to put our grief into more positive things.
