No April Showers!

IF you follow by Email Subscription Blogger sent an announcement that as of July of 2021 it will no longer support that RSS Feed....and you will no longer receive a notice in your inbox when a new blog posts...So If you wish to continue to receive an email notice,  use the contact form to the right and I will make a list and send the notice for the time being. Perhaps I can find a substitute maybe you have a suggestion. I have added a contact form upper right menu.

Life is slowing down here on the homestead, as spring will be short lived and become Summer phase 1 and then onto Summer phase 2.

I noticed in my life and my  photos Im trying to  focus too much on details, and that's important however lately  I want to see more...a wider view.  And Im selecting the smaller size of photo to reduce upload time and storage space.

I want to look at the big picture and take a step back...

I want to see the forest  and the trees so it seems....

We climb a mountain so we can look down...when we are at the foot of a mountain we look up...

Curiosity keeps  me looking around the next bend...

In this shrub I found a Blue Grey Gnatcatcher, he was curious about me...I have been a curious being my whole life...I hope that never changes...

This time of year  the soft colors are so pleasing,

Eastern Bluebird

Eastern Phoebe

Im running out of Google Storage...I admit it was a mistake to cancel my Flickr, dealing with that has been a real deal breaker, I spend a lot of time searching for photos...its my new hobby...I have made progress but still it's difficult...

??

April is a sad month for me-- John's Birthday he's  gone nearly 3 yrs now....and a whole year without Casey already.  I think about our mortality and how fragile it is and how we take so much for granted.  We get hung up in details when all we desire is one more day to cherish what we love...

Casey boy...

PEACE
Every day is a new Adventure.

  1. Very thoughtful post. And your pictures never fail to delight my eyes.
I need to see if I can delete some picture from my blog that really aren't about my nature shots. I deleted lots of picture from my photo storage when I started having trouble with my photo set up it didn't help. I guess I am going to have to update my hard drive and hope it solves the problem as I can only load to Lenova Photo and they will not transfer which doesn't allow me to use them on my blog or FB. But I'm pretty sure its windows that has screwed everything up.
Keep posting you wonderful photo's until the heat becomes to much to go out.

    1. Hi Jo, thank you. yep the photo storage is an issue, I am currently putting them on flash drives because I had an Ext hard drive and it failed SO I had put all my 2015 and prior photos on it and on Flickr, so I didn't download from Flickr thinking I had them but The drive is corrupt and it will NOT open I was able to retrieve some from my old PC with this disc reader thing I ordered but the Ext is toast. So The ones I just can't find I will revert to drafts when I get thru them all.

    2. I have used thumb drives but then they're so small you really can't mark them as to what they are. Hope you can find most of your photos. Going to take a lot of work. Good Luck

    3. Yes that is true, I bought a cheap notebook and I put dots on the back of the drive, with a marker pen to ID which drive it is, I don't keep week to week photos unless its something very rare or special...but I keep my trip photos..Even with the notebook it's nighmare..lol...

  2. Hello
Great post, I love all the photos. Wonderful bird sightings, the Killdeer are so cute. I try to notice all the details around me, there is beauty all around us. I have your blog on my side bar, so I usually see all your new posts. I dropped out of Flickr too, it was so expensive. I keep my external hard drives backed up, but I should have labeled the files. My furbabies will always be in my heart. Take care! Have a great day and a happy weekend!

    1. Hi Eileen...I created a couple of the free Flickr's and some extra Google ID's to get storage for my blog hosting...BUT its still a lot of work, Im backing up on Thumb drives so if ONE goes bad I dont lose everything...I had an Ext drive that will not open, it keeps saying it needs to be formatted but If I do that it erases the data...So IF I could just get my 2015 trip photos and my waterfall hike photos I'd be very excited...I didn't realize that was broken when I let go of my Flickr account..

    2. That is awful about your ext drive not opening. It is not a good feeling to loose your trip photos. Some of my really old photos are on the external drive and backed up on DVD's. Did you purchase your "blogspot", would that make a difference with your blog photos.

    3. Thank you Eileen, I just read up on it after you mentioned it, and I can buy extra storage from Google for $2 a month, but Im trying to avoid buying anything as it gets too confusing. That's what happened with Flickr, they sols it to Smug Mug they began to charge, then they didnt send me a bill for a lower renewal price after I put in auto renew they charged the full price, if I had stayed on ME doing the renewal yearly it would have cost me way less I could NOT find a way to end the auto renew...wrote to them etc..and no help so I just deleted the account without checking to see I had back ups on my photos that I could access...I jumped the gun on that and when I wrote to ask them to allow me to download my content they said "we dont see any account by that name" I had the account for 10 yrs...lol
I want to actually once I get them all done, I plan to Do a Print Screen shot of the blog posts SO I can print them out one by one or something since it's my personal history Im trying to preserve. It's my life "scrapbook"

  3. Ah, interesting workaround for the email subscription thing ending. I haven't figured out what to do yet, but I guess warning folks is a good start. Love all your birds and scenery as always.

    1. Hi Jen, well I don't think I have many email subscribers, but If people who want a reminder send me a message, at least I can try...I tired to find the area they suggested to find the list and could not find it. The said go to Analyze, I could never find Analyze! Don't know a permanent solution...Blogger is probably going to be on the chopping block eventually as they keep whittling away at it. Thanks for you visit!

  4. The wider view can be just as beautiful as the details can't it! I have external hard drives full of photos and I did keep flikr when it changed, I also upload everything to Snapfish - but that's just for ordering prints now and again. Maybe a professional company could recover your damaged drive?

    1. Hi Pam, I kept Flickr the first 2 yrs but when they put me on recurring payment and I did not have the option to take that away I got angry and said Pffffttt...but I didn't know than that my back up was corrupted! Thanks for your input, I am considering it. Hope your week is going good so far.

  5. This is such a good analogy Sondra ... I have sometimes tried to do the opposite, slowed down with my camera to take a macro shot, thinking about how I often don’t notice the sweet little things in nature — or in life. ..., but as you say, it is also really important to think about the big picture and not get too hung up on details..... either way, big or small focus, your pictures are outstanding as always..... I can’t believe it has been so long since those losses. Never easy.
