Cuddos for me!

Written on JUNE 30th

I know we all have those times, where life seems to be throwing down a challenge every day and sometimes more than once a day...I get un-enchanted with life sometimes..

Growing up was a struggle for me because I didn't want to grow up!  I created this life within a life where everything was wonderful I made my connection with Nature and Animals

And it has served me well my whole life.  Sometimes I get annoyed with younger people who seem to think we older folks should be at home in our rocking chairs...Oh please get real we are gonna be out here as long as we still can put foot to ground.

So out in Nature real life is just white noise that you turn off...Im in my ruby slippers.  Tap Tap Tap and then Im in this forest...looks enchanted to me!

So  you work on a solution to one problem and you no more than take a breath ...here comes the second challenge of the day...or it could be the 4th or the 5t

Not a pretty picture....we have so much work to do to get beyond THIS^

OH but wait, I'm in my Happy Place and there lives this tiny little bird barely bigger than a Green Bean, his feathers are like jewels and he flies at the speed of light, and if you're really still he will look at you, and for that little moment you are in awe...of what is before you...

This little open spot made me think of a one of those vortexes that you jump through and ...BAM you 're suddenly transported someplace out of this world.

I'd wish for one where we live in harmony with our environment and where you may sail away on a really big lily pad...Wish I had thrown something down for scale, this pad is at least 13 inches in diameter.

On this boat I could shrug off anything that makes my hands tingle and kills my butterflies. The butterflies become dragons that can attack....they suck blazing meteors right out of the atmosphere, and that's where fire breathing dragons come from...and if you catch one you can hold it by the tail and use it like a ray gun!  I just made that up of course but wouldn't that be really something to see?

No one is a rock...cause look what happens to rock over time....it turns to sand.

in my happy place sand has birds the color of the rainbow sitting on it so nothing to fear here...the Painted Bunting makes me think of Sherbet  and then when I read the label, HF corn syrup..yuk.

Maybe you can stand on someone else's rock, it keeps you afloat when the seas are rough and you just need to catch your wind before you sail off into never never, that special place...the double crested cormorant is taking a rest while he figures out his next move.

stand very still and the white noise won't find you, be berry berry quiet...don't draw any attention sssssshhhhh...Great Egrets are master of their universe.

if only my Mantra would stick...until I can figure out how to cope with real life with the white noise...I'll just keep as close to nature as I can, my happy place...

The golden years are merely a homophone for olden years...yep Im old! And yet in my own little world  I'm still 12 or 13 chasing butterflies through the fields and then right there on the ground in front of me is youth, a young bird of bright orange red sitting directly behind a tiny pine tree... promising a future of hope and full of starry eyed wonder...

Summer Tanager

I wish for Unicorns and Fireflies, and little girls can jump on the back of a bird and fly over the world ...and if she doesn't like what she sees...she  can use her ray gun dragonfly to blast it to smithereens.  Ooops no electricity, lets just live in the dark till we really figure this thing out!

Birds are flying machines..."jump on he says I can show you a view like you've never even dreamed of...just ignore the white noise, it's not here in dreamland"..

Hop on this Eastern Kingbird

Fairies and toads live under the moss...I've imagined, they can hold their breath for days, hours, minutes...maybe a lifetime!

What's under this mossy water??? Maybe its the entrance to a magic place..

Fairies may hitch a ride on the back of biwinged dragons....and be taken to the Garden of Corn Blue Flowers,

ripe with pixie dust

sprinkle that dust as the Navajo sprinkle the corn pollen and it changes stix into snakes the color of fresh summer punch...lemon and lime sherbet...Sugar Free

I think there is a lot of magic here...under each lily pad a small universe is created. Those little bugs that go round and round and snails and water spiders all on one lily pad, and here there's thousands of lily pads.

birds with spiky hair the colors of the rain  forest rise up out of the waters...like a Phoenix Rising, he stands...with sort of a goofy look..teehee.

Unmoved and no tail must be a new visitor to our Planet

Green Heron

Ripe Fruit is so inviting...

A Pixie can sleep in the petals of a swamp flower
safe from all the White Noise...

It's never too late or you're never too old to imagine the world the way you would like it to be, mine may sound  a little far out there but in the words of John Lennon Imagine all the people living for today...

You may say I'm a dreamer

But I'm not the only one
I hope some day you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Hopefully you know a place where you can go to be away from people and still be able to enjoy a day out of the house and out in Nature.

 You got this one life,,,

Trump and his gang of cut throats continue to put emphasis on making him look good to  his supporters and his chance to win the election and not on people's lives.  What a fool he is and all who follow him are even more so for the writing is on the wall!  He will sacrifice YOUR kids for his cause.  What is his cause you ask? MONEY that is all he cares for.  Yes we need a strong economy but how can we work if we have sick kids at home or parents dying in hospitals? We should do the one thing we know that works,,,,stay as far away from each other as possible, when you can't wear your protection and clean your hands immediately upon leaving a store.

People who have had the virus can and are getting it a second time.  We were led to believe that the heat of Summer would halt the virus that not only did not happen it has stepped up! I would advise people to NOT be mask less in any public situation.  It is actually the only deterrent we have at this point. In our state a month ago we had like 4 deaths per day now it's double digits per day...
WE all have to do our part to get things under control if we leave it up to someone else how does that make a difference?

NOV 3RD is our New Independence Day!  Just having  some decent leadership may help it may not but at least we will go down trying not denying.

Every day is a new Adventure

  1. Hello, Sondra
Beautiful nature scenes and wildlife, looks like a peaceful day. Awesome captures of the birds, I especially love the hummer and green heron. Great sighting of the Painted Bunting and the Summer Tanager. I can not stand Trump, he is the worst president ever! There are so many long term medical problems and dangers even after people recover from Covid. I heard they could have blood clots, lung, liver, strokes and heart problems. Our government could have been working on this Virus back in December, they all knew about it. He gutted the Pandemic Preparedness System just because it had been set up during Obama's time. I hope people wake up and vote the monster out of office. Mean time we are wearing our face mask and keeping our distance, stay safe. Have a happy weekend..

    1. I really love this comment, it's honest open and so right on target.
I really enjoyed going to Cuddo unit, the breeze coming off that water was heavenly, Wish I was sitting there right now...BOY it's been HOT!!
I don't believe in turn the other cheek mentality, I guess it's the Tennessee Hillbilly in me, that stubbornness that my Grandma gave me, I look more and more like her everyday. I know that as a collective society the very first thing we need is a healthy environment to live in. We no longer have that not only with all the CO2 in the air, but now the COVID-19 also in the air! Yet the Federal Govt is more preoccupied with manipulating the facts than in helping US solve this huge problem...I would make a mandatory FED "TEMP" LAW if you're within 100 ft of any other human MASK or 30 days in jail no freakin fine, just Slam the door on them...and before they go saying we don't enough jail space, they are able to hold children in cages at the border so it will work for this too. NOW there will be those that say that's rubbing against my personal freedoms, no they have a choice!! (mask OR 30 days that's a choice)
:o) If I were President I guess a lot of people would hate me, but I'd save a lot of lives..

  2. A wonderful post Sondra so well put together and rings many bells for me. That Painted Bunting is stunning.
For me, no matter what age I am I still enjoy cycling with friends and often in my mind I'm back to being a 10 year year old out playing with friends. We were talking about this on a ride the other day and others have the same feelings.
Fingers crossed for November in that Trump is defeated, as he is such a dangerous man and a nasty piece of work.

    1. Hi Dave and thank you so much...the inner child will be with us till that last breath I think, in a way each stage of our growing up is in our DNA, it is who we are...Im so happy to hear that Im not the only one who feels this way about life. So glad I am not a calloused person, I still see the child in others and sometimes when I come across a bully it really makes me want to sit down and ask "what has hurt you so much"? I do try to reach across the table and I have had my hand slapped...ouch but it's always worth a try.

    2. And I wanted to add this...if Boris Johnson the PM of of the UK hand't renounced his American citizenship he could have come here and run for President...OMG many don't know he was actually born in NYC right up there with Donald Trump. His parents secured him dual citizenship and he left NYC when he was 5 but he renounced his citizenship in 2016 when the IRS hounded him for gains tax on the sale of his London home...he swore he wouldn't pay but he secretly did pay is the story I read. Another bully in the sandbox.

    3. Yes Boris is of similar ilk to Trump, just out for himself. Although he is better educated than Trump he is still a buffoon who says things before thinking them through. However in the House he has a great adversary in Keir Starmer an ex QC, so he is well used to posing difficult and compromising questions, and Boris really struggles.

  3. Great post today, bringing your inner child to the play of nature. Well done it was fun.

But yes the serious side has to come out as we are turning into a 3rd world country with that beast in office.Locking up children in cages and many probably will never be reunited with there parents. The fool is a lunatic. How anyone can back him is beyond me after all the horrible things he has created in the country And as other people of intelligance can see he could care less about anything more than lining his pockets with more money ill gotten money at that.

    1. I agree Jo, he has set us back but we are not out we will undo his Damage or die trying is how I see it. Now he has stopped using the CDC as a source of information and he is using Teletrack. They are a medical data tracking company without the refinements of the CDC software. The CEO is a guy who is also a real estate developer and develops oil pipelines. So now we know the connection to Trump. He has an ulterior motive for every action unfortunately none of it helps this country it all helps his Crime Family.

    1. Trump is trying every thing he can think of to sway our reality..so we must not fall for his scam and keep our eyes open in the big picture there is a time and place for make believe, and politics is not one of them..lol

  5. Oh just two added tiny thoughts from my tiny mind: At first I thought your crazed green heron was a roadrunner and I wondered what he was doing in your marsh. And second, I do have to take issue with you calling yourself old as I’m pretty sure you’re closer to my kids age than to mine. And I’m not ready for the damn rocking chair yet ... (check with me tomorrow though ))). Thanks again for this great post.

    1. We need to be able to explore all the Sallie's and Sondra's that live inside us...we do have multiple personalities, as we stay in touch with that youngster who grew up in there! The only Christmas I remember as a child I got a doll...but I hated dolls. So to this day I do not like dolls...lol However I really love stuffed animals...did then do now.

  6. I forget on a regular basis how old I actually am, sometimes I really have to think for a minute my age at my last birthday, especially when i'm out walking and lost in the surroundings, so many things bring back moments of childhood. This such a lovely post and really resonates.

I did not know Boris was born in the US, I should have known I suppose, I do know this government have handle this epidemic as they handle everything - badly. Who wants these kind of fools in charge?!!

    1. It is great that we can get into a inner place where we do forget how old we are, we are just experiencing the world one to one...that is the place I wish to cultivate inside me, Yet as long as people like Trump and Boris are among us, we also have to bring out the bows and arrows from time to time..
