I noticed on the map that not far from the Cumberland Falls area in KY is Abraham Lincoln's old stomping grounds! He was born and lived in KY. His family moved around quite a bit before he settled in Illinois in 1831. He was born on a 300 acre piece of land in KY called Sinking Springs Farm. The Spring is still there!

None of the original buildings exist today but a cabin inside this monument is a replica, I was more impressed with the monument!
Its striking similar to the one in DC...Inside the VC are some cool displays I got 2 passport stamps here..
Lincoln was born in 1809 he lived here till 1811 then the family moved about 10 miles down the road to Knob Creek and they lived on this 230 acre farm till 1816.
it is a lovely piece of property the cabin is a replica made of period logs but not the cabin Abe lived in..

this lovely log structure was originally a tavern built on the property as a tourist stop in 1931 it will eventually become the Visitors Center the ranger told me it could be open in 3 yrs! I just requested they put in a Lincoln Penny Turning Machine!!
In town...
After this stop I headed for Indiana...I spent the night at Dyer Lake SRA. They make you pay a day use fee on top of your camp fee...not liking that much! I didn't take one single photo of the CG but I did make a photo of the picnic shelter near the lake, I went up there to make my breakfast as there were too many gnats in the campground!
Amazingly I have Good Wifi so far and been able to make a blog post! I don't know if that trend will continue but I hope it does I tend to forget pretty fast! And like Lincoln I had family move north to Indiana my Uncle Frank! I stopped and had lunch with him today then went on my way..
Casey and I enjoyed visiting Uncle Frank I stopped at KFC and brought lunch with me, chicken and fixin's for him and just fixin's for me.....and we will catch up with him more in the coming days...Casey liked this flower garden at the Campground Day use Area...
